"God", so 'tis said, wasn't created but rather always has existed and always will exist. I've never been able to contemplate that concept for more than five minutes, stopping before the increasing dizziness becomes a full-on headache. Still, there was Nothing and then there was Something. Logic suggests the existence of a Cause. My problem is that all the theories and descriptions of that Cause are uniformly unconvincing and lacking in an understanding of the full scope of omniscience.

Regardless of one's religious beliefs, that is just a terrible thing to say. I had a former minister as a kid who always used to say that if you needed to have your religion (whatever that might be) reinforced by the government, that said more about your own lack of faith than anything else.

And I can't stand it when people on any side of the aisle use tragedies to score points for their own political views.

When the demons in your head tell you violence is good, and the people you are supposed to be looking up to are druggies, murderers and liars, and you have been getting pills instead of help, maybe it would be good to have something to cleave to, some direction or the concept of good that is greater than yourself that you can grab in your darkness.
Or maybe you could try socialism. Unfortunately, as the joke goes, once you have socialism, you run out of bannanas.
